About Thailand

people & cultureclimateflora & fauna

Thailand has a tropical climate, with high temperatures and high humidity, dominated by monsoons.

The hottest period of the year is April to May - followed by the beginning of the South West Monsoon in June, which is the beginning of the rainy season.
Tourists often consider the period between November and early March as being the best one to travel in Thailand.

While the Northern, North Eastern, Eastern and Central Thailand have three seasons, the Southern Thailand has only two. The dry season is shorter the farther south you go, lasting from 6 months in Chiang Mai to only two below Surat Thani.

The overall humidity is between 66% and 82%, depending on the season and time of day.

The highest temperatures are close to 40 degrees Celsius in the hot season in the north-east plain, and drop to 13 degrees in Chiang Mai in the cold season.
